This week’s blog is going to be about Steer Wrestling, also known at bulldogging. This rodeo event is very interesting for the fact of what all it consists of. It requires strength, speed, and timing all at once. The men that do this are usually some pretty hefty boys. This is why lots of times this event is call the big man’s event. Steer wrestling is a timed event so all the cowboys are racing against the clock to see who is the fastest.
The cowboys start out in a box behind a barrier that is put across the front of the box that they have to wait behind till the steer gets to a certain distance from the chute. The steers are put in the roping chute and released. The steer runs out through the pin, and then the rider takes off out of the box on a horse and runs up beside it. He jumps off the horse and plants his feet and grabs the horns and flips it on to the ground. When he gets the steer on the ground the time stops.
This event is so dangerous because you are jumping off of a running horse and if you slip you could run the steers horns into your stomach. Also if you foot would get stuck in the stirrup when your jumping off the horse you could get drug around the arena.

ReplyDeleteOverall the blog looks good. Good paragraphs & great picture!
Also, it looks like your profile needs proofread.
"I" is always capitalized and don't forget the punctuation after "six years old".
Lastly, good use of a hyperlink. It might not hurt to bring a few more articles in on the topic- especially a news article or two of someone getting gored, etc. to really show the danger in this particular event or you might even have one of the competition's results.
